  1. With North Korea's technological advancements, the idea of nuclear war becomes a very present possibility. The role of the POTUS with the current Nuclear Crisis with North Korea is to maintain peace and stop the possibility of nuclear war to begin. The issue with North Korea is the 2017 version of the Cuban Missile Crisis. President Trump is vocalizing that he wants to fund the government and military more than ever now. It is crucial that the President deals with this sensitive issue with the utmost discretion and does not send the wrong message to North Korea.

  2. Trump's role during this time is to be the diplomat who speaks with North Korean officials on what they are doing. He tries to find peaceful ways or military action to take on North Korea if they do not stop launching missiles. He deals with the open threats that North Korea has targeted the Unites States with. The biggest concern is that North Korea will send Nuclear weapons towards America and that it is not just a threat. Trumps biggest decision is between making an agreement peacefully or sending the military to deal with the problem. Even though it is not possible yet for a nuclear missile to hit the mainlands, they are making good progress on the technology needed to do so. This a major problem. Trump needs to figure out what to do with force or peace before this happens. If they do succeed, then they have a lot of power over the United States.

  3. As the nation’s current leader and master decision maker, it is crucial for President Trump to make decisions that will positively influence the United State’s well-being. President Trump is currently dealing with a pressing issue regarding the possibility of North Korea launching missiles that could have catastrophic effects on the nation if they are perfected. Donald Trump’s role regarding this issue is to find the best course of action rather that be the aggressor, diplomat, or forming a proper medium encompassing both of these aspects. In addition, Trump must ensure that a nuclear war doesn’t happen because this would cause global chaos with the increased level of effectiveness of weapons through ever-developing technology. Donald Trump is comforting American citizens by vocalizing his intent to “take care of it” and calling it a “situation we will handle”. Through increased funding of our government and military, Trump will impose a significant amount of pressure on North Korea to attempt to make them back down from their intent on targeting the U.S. in the future. Trump seems more intent on using military power than being diplomatic. Although, some of his close associates such as Tillerson ensure us that the United States will attempt to solve this problem through diplomatic means.

  4. Regarding the crisis with North Korea, it is the president's job to live up to his titles as Commander in Chief, Chief Diplomat, and Head of State. I think the president's first priority should be to protect the American people and ensure our safety, but there are several ways he could do this, some of which are more risky than others. the ideal option is a diplomatic solution. Hopefully the president along with our allies can come to an agreement with the leaders of North Korea that can put an end to the tension. While I would like to see such a resolution personally some believe that the increasing hostility of North Korea makes this option almost null. The second option is to go to war, however; we should only do this if provoked by the North Koreans, not as a preemptive strike. This should be the last resort and while it could end up in our favor, it will cost countless lives on both sides and no one wants to see so much death and destruction. Similar to the Cuban Missile Crisis, Trump should be cautious and not make any rash decisions just like Kennedy and hopefully everyone can avoid a physical conflict. For now, the president needs to use his diplomatic options to their full extent to solve the problem and only use military action if it becomes absolutely unavoidable.

  5. The POTUS is responsible for being the Commander in Chief, Chief Diplomat, and man of the people at all times, especially now. The president's role with the current Nuclear crisis with North Korea is to do anything in his power to ensure that peace will be maintained and no lives will be harmed. He should be focused on making a deal to have them stop using their missles, with us in return doing the same. Though people can be concerned with Trump's increase of the army and preparations being made, he is just doing what he feels is right as a militant leader while protecting his people. It is his power to make the decisions he wants to about handling North Korea, he just needs to make sure he is thinking enough about all people rather than bringing power to his name.

  6. As president of the United States, it is his job to be a diplomatic chief and deal with foreign relations. Because of the increasing threat about nuclear missiles, the pressure on Donald Trump further increases as well. As almost every president wants to avoid war, it is up to Trump to remain our peace with North Korea. It is in the best interest of the president to keep the people of the United States safe and not waste the live of soldiers. The best way to handle this situation would be to make compromises with North Korea to help avoid war. If we were to go to war this would be one of the most devastating wars of all time due to nuclear warfare. Hopefully Trump is smart enough to realize this and not result to war actions if avoidable. This is why it is a good reason to have a civilian as a diplomat because they can think logically about the effects that there will be on the citizens. There is a lot of power in this position, and Trump is power seeking, but hopefully the concerns of the people will override his thoughts.

  7. The POTUS's role with foreign relations is to be the man who directs others to do their job and peacefully end tensions. For any president, war and violence is one of the last options because of the mass destruction that it would bring to millions of civilians. As seen through other times of history, the president has gotten his administration to work their hardest towards diplomatically arranging an agreement between our nation and the hostile one. The president constantly works with his administration to think through all of the scenarios and what agreement we could come to terms with. Then, the president is the man who always steps in towards the end to personally talk to the other country to seal the deal. With North Korea, President Trump should work to the best of his ability to peacefully resolve the issues between Americans and North Koreans (mainly Kim Jung Un). I hope that this nuclear tension will result in the best in humanity and the two leaders will help save millions of innocent Koreans and Americans. Hopefully, President Trump will be able to work with Russia and China to effectively cut off North Korea and force them to peacefully end this tension.

  8. With the nuclear advancements of North Korea, it is imperative that President considers the nation as a whole. One small move could start World War III. The problem with this is I do not even know if this is a problem for Trump. I do believe we should increase our military for the dense and security of our own nation. America needs not to seem like a big bully but they should seem like a big protector.

  9. The role of the president is to be the chief diplomat and represent the country. He also is in charge of appointing ambassadors to represent the country. The president is responsible for keeping the country from going to war but if war is the only reliable action then the country will go to war. The another role of the president is to keep the American people safe. In order to do this, he must keep the country away from the possibility of a nuclear war. The president has tried to put economic sanctions on North Korea, but this has not worked yet because North Korea still trades with China. President Trump should work with the North Korean government and Kim Jung Un to solve all of these issues peacefully.

  10. As the chief diplomat it is the president's job to try to talk to North Korea and solve this missile issue. Unfortunately, that is much easier said than done. Kim Jung Un and his government is not know for playing nicely with others. If diplomatic methods do not solve the issue, than the president has the righ as the commander in chief to attack North Korea.

  11. The president should do his best to resolve developing international situations with the attitude and actions required of a US president. North Korea's nuclear development is a very dangerous thing, the growing amount of nuclear power is concerning for any sane person, and a harsh dictatorship run by a madman like Kim Jung Un is a nation who should definitely not be able to wield that amount of power. Trump should respond firmly and utilize our soft and hard power when necessary to ensure the situation is resolved.

  12. The president has the role of chief diplomat and commander in chief, and he must fill these roles during this crisis with North Korea. He must negotiate with the North Korean government to bring forth a peaceful end to this crisis, and avoid escalation of this conflict. What he is doing now, tweeting about it and boasting, is not his role, and is inflammatory to the conflict. He should negotiate with China, North Korea's biggest trading partner, so that his sanctions on North Korea actually do something. He should try to avoid war by all means necessary.

  13. Given North Korea's current nuclear capabilities, it is more important than ever for President Trump to maintain a peaceful relationship with them. Nuclear warfare would devastate the entire world, and should be prevented at all costs. It is not President Trump's fault that North Korea's leaders are set on combatting democracy, but he needs to develop a peaceful yet commanding plan to halt the efforts of the Kim Jong Un regime. Also, while peace is the ultimate goal, it is still important for Trump to send a message of the United State's military prowess.

  14. It is the President's responsibility to properly deal with foreign relations of major importance. The POTUS' main rule of thumb is to act on whatever keeps his people safe. Kim Jong Un and his nation of militarized zombies firmly believe WWIII is on the horizon, and as the President of the United States, Donald Trump needs to make an effort to prevent that (unless provoked). Donald Trump is in quite the predicament. Does he rally around his allies and China to stop ballistic missile production in North Korea by sanctions, Or by force? That is for him and his advisors to figure out, but he needs to do what is best for his people, not his legacy.

  15. The president's responsibility is to maintain peace between the United States and North Korea. A nuclear war is something no one wants, but with how the current President is handling things, the chances are increasing. It is crucial that Trump does not make a major mistake that would lead to an all out war against the North Koreans. This foreign country is known to be aggressive, so Trump needs to proceed with caution.

  16. As the current POTUS of the United States, Donald Trump is supposed to act as the Commander in Chief and Chief Diplomat. As of recent, Trump appears to want to act much more as the Commander in Chief than Chief Diplomat. It appears that he wants to use strong military force to settle the North Korean threat. However, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson appears to be advocating for a peaceful resolution between the two countries. Tillerson wants to resolve the the issue through diplomatic ways and not through military force. Even though we are unsure of how dangerous N. Korea is, Trump needs to be cautious with his actions because many innocent US and Korean lives are on the line.

  17. In the current situation with North Korea, one cannot help but draw comparisons to the Cuban Missile Crises of the 1960's. The President is the country's chief diplomat as well as the Commander in Chief. It falls upon him to handle the situation with the utmost care. Trump has heavily increased our military spending, seemingly taking a somewhat aggressive stance on the issue. North Korea's technological advancements and seemingly reckless behavior makes their possession of nuclear weapons a very plausible threat. It would be in the best interest of the world if the POTUS can handle this situation diplomatically and without any portion of the world being engulfed in flames.

  18. The way that Trump is speaking (really I should say tweeting) lately is honestly asking for it. He is the worst diplomatic leader in the history of the Presidency and is putting his country in danger. Handling this very volatile situation diplomatically well is of utmost importance. Military wise there isn't much trump can do right now because Kim Jong Un is such a psychopath that anything remotely defensive could set off a nuclear war. That being said, if Trump can't figure out how to act like an adult and continues to make these crass comments and misjudgements there could literally be a nuclear war.

  19. The way the president SHOULD handle the situation is much different from how he is handling it. Trump is supposed to be the Chief Diplomat for the U.S. and making sure all foreign affairs are pretty much handled appropriately in order to maintain the protection of his citizens. Instead Trump continues to goad and tweet about how North Korea is so mall and weak and how we are big and bad and can handle whatever is through at us. I believe Trump doesn't realize the severity of the situation and instead wants to flex our military at home instead of trying to negotiate abroad. If Trump doesn't really try to straighten up and react like the president should WWIII could be in our near futures.

  20. North Korea's nuclear advancements have become a glaring problem of tension for the U.S. I think that war is not the answer. However, I am not sure if an agreement or deal could be made before WW111. If Trump fulfills his job by protecting the people of America, he will not engage in war unless North Korea acts first. Engaging in a nuclear war will kill thousands of innocent people.

  21. The role of the President with the current Nuclear Crisis with North Korea is to make sure foreign affairs are handled well to protect all Americans. However, Trump is using social media to criticize every detail of North Korea and its leader, Kim Jung Un. Although Trump can not really do anything from a military standpoint, calling out North Korea is not the best way to go about things. The way he is handling the situation makes it seems like he is embracing the idea of an oncoming nuclear war. The situation should be handled the way his job says it should: by being the U.S.'s chief diplomat that ensures the protection of his citizens.

  22. The role of the POTUS regarding the current nuclear crisis with North Korea is a powerful one. In a perfect world, the POTUS would handle North Korea diplomatically, and sternly as well as giving the military instructions on what will be allowed if there is an escalation. Unfortunately, it is 2017 and we’re stuck with the insult slinging and big mouthed Donald Trump as our Commander-in-Chief. What has people concerned about President Trump’s handling of North Korea is that his comments and threats are not being delivered in a presidential manor and they increase the risk of nuclear escalation by North Korea. Most logical people would air on the side of caution when dealing with a country that has such powerful weapons, however, the President has chosen an illogical approach which could lead to dangerous results for all Americans.
